Summer Lecture Series – Think Global, Act Local

Introducing Our New Lecture Series

Our Natural World: Think Global, Act Local

The Mound House is thrilled to launch our brand new lecture series, Our Natural World: Think Global, Act Local, an exciting opportunity to explore the incredible natural resources that surround us and discover how local actions can have a global impact.

Birds of Fort Myers Beach: Nesting Shorebirds and Amazing Migratory Travelers

Join us as Megan Hatten, Southwest Florida Shorebird Project Manager with Audubon Florida, shares the fascinating story of the birds that nest along the south end of Fort Myers Beach and the remarkable migratory birds that visit Southwest Florida each year.

Megan Hatten is a coastal conservationist who grew up in Wisconsin and earned her degree in Biological Aspects of Conservation and Environmental Studies from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. After moving to Florida, she worked at the Conservancy of Southwest Florida Wildlife Hospital and later with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission monitoring shorebirds on Marco Island. She now serves as Southwest Florida Shorebird Project Manager with Audubon Florida, where she works to create a future in which people and birds can thrive together.
