DESCRIPTION:Introducing Our New Lecture Series\nOur Natural World: Think Global\, Act Local\nThe Mound House is thrilled to launch our brand new lecture series\, Our Natural World: Think Global\, Act Local\, an exciting opportunity to explore the incredible natural resources that surround us and discover how local actions can have a global impact. \nBirds of Fort Myers Beach: Nesting Shorebirds and Amazing Migratory Travelers\nJoin us as Megan Hatten\, Southwest Florida Shorebird Project Manager with Audubon Florida\, shares the fascinating story of the birds that nest along the south end of Fort Myers Beach and the remarkable migratory birds that visit Southwest Florida each year. \nMegan Hatten is a coastal conservationist who grew up in Wisconsin and earned her degree in Biological Aspects of Conservation and Environmental Studies from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. After moving to Florida\, she worked at the Conservancy of Southwest Florida Wildlife Hospital and later with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission monitoring shorebirds on Marco Island. DESCRIPTION:Island Hopper – Music on the Mound\nJoin two renowned songwriters as they perform at the historic and beautiful Mound House as a part of the Island Hopper Songwriters Fest! This multiday festival sees world class talent perform across different locations in Lee County and we are thrilled to once again host this fun and exciting celebration of music! \nDoors open at 2:00pm\, concert at 2:30pm. (approx. 1 hour) Rain or shine! \n Songwriters’ Biographies\nFrank J. Myers \nA Grammy Award-winning songwriter\, producer\, and musician whose remarkable career has helped shape country and pop music for more than 40 years. Since moving to Nashville in 1981\, he has written 12 No. 1 hits and more than 20 Top 10 singles\, with songs recorded by over 50 artists. \nHis best-known works include the international smash “I Swear\,” recorded by John Michael Montgomery and later by All-4-One\, as well as “I’m Already There\,” “My Front Porch Looking In\,” and “Tomorrow.” His songs have earned numerous honors\, including Grammy\, CMA\, ACM\, ASCAP\, and Billboard awards. \nIn addition to his success as a songwriter\, Myers is an accomplished producer and collaborator who has worked with many of country music’s biggest stars. He continues to write and mentor artists\, leaving a lasting impact on the music industry. \nLauren Macitti \nA Nashville-based singer/songwriter with a voice as pure as her heartland roots and a songwriting gift that has turned heads from American Idol to the Grand Ole Opry. A musical prodigy who began performing at age 7\, she’s since performed with legends like Pam Tillis\, Suzy Bogguss\, and Brad Paisley. Her breakout album God Made a Woman earned critical acclaim and landed on The New York Times’ Best of 2020 list and climbed as high as #4 on the iTunes Country Albums chart. Recently\, Lauren released a brand new EP inspired by her love of the ocean and the seaside storytellers she admires.
